While it is logical to get the address updated for the day to day utilities, like electricity, Piped Gas connection, Telephone; it is equally important to get the records updated to manage your finances better and ensure smooth operation of your financial accounts; be it your bank, Insurance, Mutual Fund or Securities account.

AT KSL, we believe in prompt service and encourage our customers to keep us posted on the latest changes in their contact details. Physical Address is a critical component here as lot of financial information and key items like passwords, etc; are actually posted on the same. So if you have just moved house please ensure you keep your demat and trading profile updated by submitting the ‘Common Updation form’.

You must submit the form, signed in original by all Demat account holders in person to the nearest Kotak Securities Branch. Documents cannot be couriered. In case you are sending an authorized person, he needs to carry an original DP holding cum transaction statement.Carry your original address and identity proof documents and these should not be more than 30 days old.

Incase customer is providing photocopies of his documents it needs to be self-attested with his signature in front of Branch official.The document signature will be verified with the Account Opening Form Signature for security purposes.The process is primarily aimed at ensuring that the address change happens in a smooth and secured manner and you start receiving important communication at your new address. I was welcomed by a Welcomer even before I entered into Sherpa's House Cottage to register/check-in. A smartly dressed, well spoken, woman greeted me with a beautiful big smile and told me that she had been expecting me and knew who I was. And that was in the car park whilst I was emptying my luggage! Before I even entered the guest house I felt that I had made a great choice.

Check-in was completed instantly - yes instantly. Then this lady asked me about my plans and I told her. She listened and responded to each of my points providing helpful information. Then she went further. She pointed out without pointing out explicitly that my plans for the next day were misconceived - I simply did not have enough time to do what I was proposing to do. And she made two suggestions (and marked them on a map) based on what she had learned about me. They turned out to be excellent suggestions.

Whilst a welcome is great and proactive information and advice is great, it is not enough. The core service I hired Sherpa's House Cottage was to provide me with a quiet, clean, spacious room that had the amenities I needed. That is what I got. The room was just right.

Whenever I encountered this lady I felt in the presence of someone who is fully alive, totally present and who 'loves being of service' to her guests, her customers. So much so that the thought occurred to me that if I could bottle the essence of this lady and clone it then I would transform the world of service centered business.

Who is this lady I asked on the reception area? The proprietor: Sherpa - is the response I received.

Before I left I told Sherpa that she is the most welcoming person I had encountered. Sherpa does more than get customers, she creates fans. It is fans and only fans that end up as advocates and spread the word of mouth to others.

This story completely replicates any service line and it is crucial to note that a successful customer service delivery is made of many building blocks. A solid policy, firmly grounded, constitutes the cornerstone of the strategy. But it is not enough: adding more elements and finding the right balance is a necessity in the long run. Balancing the policy with innovation, initiative, the right level of human touch and some degree of creativity will make it all stick together. It should resist the test of time and be strong enough to sustain external challenges as well.

The IT revolution and the resultant Internet penetration, has led to more and more services now available online. Last month I was invited to a family gathering and as usual I was very excited, since such social interactions now come at a premium in this fast paced world. It was celebration time as my cousin had successfully completed her MBA program from a prestigious institute and was about to start her stint in the corporate world.

A recent survey from the marketing agency Gartner has revealed that the mobile penetration in India as of start of the current year was 51%. The number of mobile users in India increased by around 9% in 2011, hitting 638 million (63.8 crore) at the end of 2011 as per the report.

Kotak Securities was one of the first brokerage firm to introduce security key access for its online customers. This was implemented way back in 2007 and at least 5 years before SEBI enforced the rule of two factor authentication for all broking companies.
So what is this; Security Key?
It is a small device, that produces a dynamic passwords on the press of a button. This password or number is in sync with the password mechanism in our system, thus preventing any misuse of a customer’s account.

I was using this key for last 10 months, and things are fine. But recently it was generating numbers but not accepted by server. When I talked to customer care, they said that I have place a new key request and I have to pay Rs. 600/. But why I have to pay 600 rupees for no fault of mine. It is your server issue because of that the key goes out of synchronization. Please let me know what to do? Is this a technique to earn some cheap money?

We wish to inform that Rs.600/- is initially debited from your account basis the request received for new key. However, said charges are reversible and credited back to your account following the receipt of damaged key.
